Master's Degree Program

Graduates of the part-time master's degree program in facility and real estate management are the increasingly important interface between purely financial-economic and the technical point of view of real estate and infrastructural units of companies. They reflect the strategies of companies on real estates and infrastructure, with the aim to support the core processes of the company to attain the strategic aims. The four-semester long part-time degree program is an enhancement of the in 1997 established Facility Management diploma course and the in 2000 furnished diploma course real estate industry & facility management, which has been accredited in 2008.

Strategic Real Estate Knowledge

The deepening Master’s program extends the knowledge of subject-related (Bachelor´s) degree programs, which have the core subject areas of construction and real estate and facility management, as well as economic, natural and formal sciences with an affinity for the content of the real estate sector, such as the Bachelor degree program Facility and Real Estate Management at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol. Thereby the four-semester long master degree program facility and real estate management allows to expand the competences, which are located mainly in the operational area, to the strategic areas. Graduates of this master degree program can perceive current and prospective trends by applying their knowledge of business management, social science and technical knowledge, combined with practical experience in facility and real estate management, to react professionally at an early stage.

The key aspects of the master degree program are focused on economically and technically orientated facility and real estate management (including real estate development, real estate economics and strategic facility management) as well as leadership skills. The practical transfer takes place through interdisciplinary project work. Technological affinity and self-organization are supported by e-learning elements.

Based on the teaching content the following theoretical and practical mediated subject specific competences arise:

  • Entrepreneurial thinking and acting by business competence
  • Strategy formation, operationalization and project controlling in the field of facility and real estate management
  • Specialized knowledge to technical and economic aspects in facility and real estate management
  • Anticipation of social trends on the basis of social science knowledge
  • Specialized knowledge about management and organization of creative- and management processes with technical-economic background, intercultural project partners and distributed teams

In addition to the knowledge content we impart the following personal skills:

  • Flexibility, self-organization, motivation and time management
  • Employee motivation, team- and leadership skills
  • Project management experience and sense of responsibility
  • Awareness of the problems and solution expertise

Various fields of activity in industries of the future

Essential characteristics of the occupational areas of activity are on the one hand focused on real estate and infrastructural sectors, which have an increased level of complexity and include the management and leadership of heterogeneous teams. On the other hand there are flexible areas of activity, where graduates can apply their strategic and operational competencies. These can be used as a freelancer, but also within a corporate structure on the middle and upper management levels. Our graduates are active in the following areas:

Transnational Catchment Area

The catchment area of the degree courses of the University of Kufstein is based on the geographical position, especially western Austria, southern Germany and south Tyrol are interested in studying in Kufstein. The career opportunities are related to these regions. In order to provide the best possible career opportunities for our graduates, this circumstance is considered in the courses.

Basic Understanding of our Degree Course

In the master degree course we set a great value upon independence, critical reflection, open source and meaning-oriented social contribution in facilities and real estate industrial contexts. We require a strong commitment to find solutions to current problems in the real estate sector. In return we are offering a close connection with our Institute for Facility Management & Real Estate Management. With pleasure we are going to assist our students in the way of scientific working and offer opportunities to participate in international paper & poster awards, but also enable a collaboration in our institute.
