Learning outcomes of course unit

Graduates are able to: - describe and employ quantitative as well as qualitative methods. - describe and employ multi-variant analysis methods. - describe and produce detailed concepts and contexts of empirical economic research. - critically evaluate and question scientific methods and concepts. - use and analyze scientific methods and concepts when tackling issues related to the real estate industry.

course contents

- Scientific theory - Evaluation research and basic research - Quantitative methods of data collection - Qualitative methods - Hypotheses development and theory construction - Descriptive population surveys - Surveys to test hypotheses - Multivariate procedures - Application and analyses of real data / observations using software-based solutions. A general module description for the course in the semester abroad can and should not be defined in order to ensure the free space for the students due to the large number of partner universities and the there offered selections within the economics. In the following the course contents are exemplified. ECTS and national credits are given. Students are subjected to the graduation modalities at the partner university. The selected examples represent the three groups of partner countries (industrialized countries outside Europe, European countries as well as developing and emerging countries). Course example at the Inha University, Incheon, South Korea: PAD3107 Social Research Methods, Credits 3: An overview of the research process in social science, including techniques of sampling, methods of data collection, principles of measurement, problems of inference and proof, basic methods of data analysis, and ethical considerations. Course example at the University of Groningen, Groningen, Netherlands: M?IBS?ESTA Statistics, ECTS 3: After this course the student will be able enter DATA in SPSS and analyse them. Determine the level of measurement of the variables used. Choose the right type of test in different situations Assess the reliability of a scale Transform raw data into z?scores.
